About a month ago, my good friend Lori had a slight change in employment. (Publishing is a rough industry these days.) She took that lemon and decided we were both making lemonade. All the blog improvements in the last month, including Fruit Salad, are from her sweetening up the place. It was my idea, but she helped me plan it out, design graphics, and get better photos.
And in addition to being my design consultant, photography expert, and SEO analyzer, she’s also relaunching her own brand at loribarbely.com and beachesboozebungalows.com. Check out her Instagram (@loribarbely or @bchbzebungalows) if you want to feel warm - she's a photographer out of Orlando, Florida, and she's an expert on islands.
So anyway, in honor of Lori’s lemonade, it’s time for the lemon block!
YELLOW - (25) 2” squares; (4) 2.5” squares
NEUTRAL - (12) 2” squares; (4) 2.5” squares
Note: I am using the same neutral (Kona White) in all my blocks
HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Draw a line on the 2.5" neutral squares
Pair with the 2.5" yellows
Stitch 1/4" on each side of the line
Cut on the line
Trim to 2" square (I use the Quilt in a Day triangle ruler, so I trim before pressing)
Press to the yellow
Layout the block as shown. Stitch together by row, pressing each row in opposite directions. Press the final seams open.
When Life Gives You Lemons - 8x14” unfinished
If you’re joining me in these blocks, please use #fruitsaladquilt on Instagram or comment here so I can find your blog!
And lest you think I’ve found actual photography skills, CC is here to let you know this is all set up on my treadmill. And she is NOT breaking the rules because I said stay off the photography equipment, and she is very clearly not on the equipment, thankyouverymuch.
