Do you ever have a moment where you know you just have to say YES to the thing? Like, say, a blog hop for a book by Rebecca MAE Designs?
I mean, we’re both Maes! We might as well be…
Get it? Get it? #sorrynotsorry
We blog hoppers were sent a copy of the book a few months ago, and when I flipped through, I immediately knew what I wanted to do. Lori, my amazing brand photographer, needed something to give away at a bridal show later this year, and the infinity Soul Mate pillow was perfect! (Because Lori and I have a very symbiotic relationship. That mostly benefits me.)
The book version is for both a full quilt that you can personalize with your names and dates. In fact, it’s the quilt featured in the first pic! The book also includes instruction to make pillow shams, so I followed those and made it in Lori’s trademark colors - aqua and white. All photos are by her.
The book includes seven different, adorable alphabets. This one was perfectly sized for the infinity templates (of course) and is just a fun, happy font. Easy peasy to stitch down - look how perfect I got the corners on that A. Go me!
May background fabric is Vintage Holiday by Bonnie & Camille. The other fabrics are scraps.
The quilting is wishbones, which kind of look like infinity loops as well. I go all in on themes. I thought about cross hatching the outside of the infinity ring, or adding the hand-stitching on the ring that’s suggested in the book, but in the end, I wanted to stick with the theme. Plus, the infinity ring puffs out nicely without any quilting to hold it back.
The book has instructions for using binding instead of stitching the edges and flipping the pillow right side out, but I really liked the clean edge here. I actually had fabric out (Lori’s border from her first t-shirt quilt) to make the binding before deciding it didn’t need it. But if you’re making pillow shams for your bed instead of a little couch pillow, you might want the book’s binding idea so it’s more washable!
This part! So, I’ve always done pillow cover backs horizontally, which sometimes leads to gappy backs because, well, pillows that are longer instead of taller tend to do that. It never once occurred to me, until this book, that I can make longer pillows with a VERTICAL envelope. I mean, duh. Really. So I did the vertical and the overlap is just perfect and look how nice and non-gappy that is!
Also - my labels! Dutch Label Shop! I need to do a full review, but let’s just go with - I love them.
Oh those little aqua flowers. All the heart eyes! That was my one little scrap of that!
And now for the fun stuff! Do you want to win a copy of Sherri’s book? Of course you do! And there are TWO PRIZES!
I’m giving away a hard copy of the book here! (US only, unfortunately, but Joanne will be giving away a book for Canadians next Tuesday!) All you have to do is leave a comment about your soul mate (mine is CC) and make sure your email is not no-reply.

The second giveaway is for two spools of Aurifil thread - colors will be random and they ship worldwide! To win, leave a comment about what your favorite color combination is (and make sure you’re not no-reply!)
For a bonus entry to both giveaways, follow me on Instagram and comment with your username!
Both giveaways are open until March 19.
Each of my blog hop buddies will also be giving away a hard copy of the book and two spools of thread, and Sherri has a big grand prize, so make sure you visit all the rest of these lovely people and give them some texty love, too!
