Well, goodness - I really wasn’t kidding about only making pillows for a while! To be fair, I’m working on a large project - seven quilts for a town’s royal court - so my “day job” is pretty full. But I’m trying to set aside an hour at night to work on my stuff as part of the 100 Days hashtag on Instagram. Usually between 7-8 pm, I’m reminding a kid to get in and out of the shower, finish homework, make lunches, do bedtime reading, etc. It’s a wasted hour and I usually end up yelling at them from the couch. Instead, I’ve gone to the sewing room, and when I get up to iron, I walked to the bathroom, or the kitchen, or pause to read story. And I’ve gotten things done!
First up is this lovely pillow! The InMod Quilt Guild made a pineapple quilt for our raffle in 2017-2018. We had some leftover block kits, so I bought one just before we moved to Oklahoma. And there it sat for 18+ months. So when the 100 Days started last week, it was the first thing I pulled out! A quick and fast finish is always a good way to start a long-term project.
The back is a fat quarter I won during my Oklahoma guild’s Christmas party this year, so I have no idea on the source. And I have no idea what the solids are. But they work together - mostly kinda sorta - and it was big enough and easy enough to make an envelope style back!
The only downside is that the pillow is only 12” finished, so it doesn’t help with my quest to freshen up the couch pillows. Because clearly they need a bit of love. But - that’s for another evening. Right now, I’m actually working on my guild challenge quilt a whole month before it’s due! All for the sake of a hashtag.
