BOMs Away - Jack's Chain

I have never been so excited to cut half-rectangle-triangles! This month, the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is yellow, and yellow is one of the few colors I did back in 2015 when I started this. {Quit judging me.} I decided to patiently wait out any setting cutting or piecing until one of my already-finished colors came up. Five full months of patience! It's a miracle, people.

So I cut my triangles and another bit of background. And did my piecing. {Which, the pattern has a template to cut off the dog ears. Use it. It makes a huge difference in lining up headaches!}

And finally! I get to see what I'm actually doing with all these nine patches! And oh my, it is worth it.

I'm still not positive about the red - I don't want it to overpower the quilt, but I like the way it looks on the pattern cover. I think it helps define the rings more? But then my red nine patches will kinda blend wrong. But if I change to all the white background, it'll be obvious that the nine patches have a different background? And I absolutely draw the line at redoing the nine patches.

So I don't know yet. I can pick off the red and use it in a Quilts of Valor, easy enough - even a Jack's Chain QOV!

I guess I have another few months to think about this, and a nice long road trip soon enough for some seam ripping! How about everyone else? Link up here or at What a Hoot!
