Unnamed Baby Girl Quilt - Finished!

Seriously, need a name for this one!
I started calling it the Triangle Circle Quilt...but while descriptive, that's boring. UBG reminds me of the BFG, at least. Which reminds me that I need to start reading Roald Dahl books to the Dude. He was vastly impressed with my Bunnicula books, so I think he'd like Dahl.
UBG is made from Tri-Rec blocks, with HSTs in the corners instead of plain blocks. While I'm sure there's a similar pattern out there, I didn't use one. I quilted the inner and outer outline of the Tri-Rec blocks with variegated pastel thread.
When I started laying it out, the green blocks "popped" a bit too much in random placement, so I circled them up in the middle.
The backing is minky, and I love the way the quilting looks on it.
It measures 54" square, and I'm not even going to try to name all the fabrics in it. There's everything from vintage sheets to Walmart scraps.
And now I have to wait another couple of weeks to find out if I'm shipping UBG or Airplane Dreams!

WiP/FMC - Forward Progress

When you stay home all week, you actually get stuff done! Surprising, I know. My house is pretty clean, too. And I'm caught up on paperwork.
I opened the charm packs I won for being awesome at the FMC, and divvied them up between boy/girl/maybe either.
 Vetted my decisions with the Dude. "What's wrong with the flowers? Flowers aren't 'girl.' I like flowers. And the vines are alien arms." Boys...
Anyway, once I figure out the proper number needed, these will be hotel-kitted-up with the white for reverse bowties.
I also finished the toy-border-four-patch-pinwheel kit, and started pulling tops and backing in preparation for packing.
Finishes!
That's right - plural!
I pulled them both out of the dryer last night, so they need better pictures {and not in the dim morning light} before getting blogged.

Non-Quilt-Along

Made the top of my husband's offensive t-shirt quilt.

Quilt-Alongs
Fat Quarter Stars - 6/12 blocks - none - I should really toss this into the packing box.
LQS Saturday Sampler 2012 - 12/36
 LQS Saturday Sampler 2011 - still working away at the center
Swoon A Little, Swoon A Lot - sneak peek! All three rows are assembled, the vertical sashing is pieced and pinned to the other two rows, and the border fabric is ironed and awaiting final measurements.
My Precious Quilt Along - I unrolled my honey bun! And nothing horrible happened!
My original plan was to do a log cabin - after all, they're 1.5" strips. But after examining the fabrics, there wasn't enough neutral and contrast - I could only get 16 blocks, and that was with using stripes that were barely neutral. That left ten lonely strips!
So I decided on this elongated box thing. Two strips yield two blocks, alternating where the contrast goes. They're all cut and sorted for easy leaders/enders.

Awaiting Binding:

Big Blue - the status of this is apparently making my sister nervous. So I cut the 450" of binding. It will probably take me a week to press it, anyway.

Life in Pieces' Fifteen Minute Challenge

Sunday Stash Report - Week 19

Finishes!
{Almost.}
Binding is attached to the Granny Squares. Binding is prepped for the Unnamed Baby Girl Quilt. Both will be done by this afternoon, so I'm counting them as out.
I purchased the backing for Granny, but the binding for both came from my stash. So, woo! Numbers are going in the right direction!

WiP/FMC/Just 3 - It's May...

It's May?
Let me rephrase that.
IT'S MAY?!?!

I'm leaving my stash in 3.5 weeks.

I'm moving into a hotel in four weeks.
I'm not ready.

I need more kits.

I need a suitcase for my sewing machine. Which sewing machine am I taking, the light one or the workhorse?
I need to buy a little cutting mat and ruler.
I need more kits.
Can I take a rotary cutter on an airplane?
How am I going to fit everything in the car, with the cats, too? {The Dude doesn't need to pack any toys, right?} I won't have room for both sewing machines, which means I have to haul the heavy one on the airplane.
I need more kits.
How many bags can I check?

Fifteen Minute Challenge

I continued cutting willy-nilly until Saturday, when I sat down and made a list. Then I made a list of the hotel kits that still need work. Then I made a list of the fabric that still needs to be purchased.

It's a loooooooong list.

But at least I've got something to work with now.

Just Three

My April goals were the three baby quilts due in May. One, Airplane Dreams, is completely finished.
The other two are in the mostly-quilted stage.
Unnamed Baby Girl Quilt - 75% quilted. I'd show off the quilting, but, well, I wouldn't want to make the cat move.
Granny Squares {mine} - quilting in progress. I already echoed every block. Trying to decide where to add more - in the sashing? {edge-to-edge!} or in the blocks? {more thread burying...}

For May, my Just Three are my husband's Inappropriate T-Shirt Quilt, the back of my cousin's t-shirt quilt, and finishing the heck out of my hotel kits. {And moving into the hotel. After driving to Virginia. With a kid and two cats.}

Quilt-Alongs
Fat Quarter Stars - 6/12 blocks - none
LQS Saturday Sampler 2012 - 12/36
 LQS Saturday Sampler 2011 - still working away at the center
Swoon A Little, Swoon A Lot - my last two Swoon blocks. And that brown star? Every single stripe is going the same direction. Oh yeah. It's time to assemble! {Anyone else just yell "Avengers Assemble!"? No? Just me? Okay then...}

WiP/FMC - Saving Prom

Last week, Katie saved prom. This week, it was my turn! Luckily, it was just a hem and strap shortening, and I had 24 hours notice. It forced me to learn how to use my rolled hem foot - I was not touching a chiffon hem without that!
{Pain in the butt cat was not allowed on the sewing table with the dress. This is apparently very depressing.}

When they asked about payment, I said I wanted a spot in their bunker in case the Zombie Apocalypse happens while my husband is deployed. Since I proved that I have a useful skill, I'm totally in!
{Which, can you imagine how useful I'd actually be? "OMG, that's $20 a half yard Japanese fabric! You can't use it as a tourniquet! What do you need a tourniquet for, anyway? Did you get bit? Because I've seen the movies and a tourniquet won't stop you from becoming a zombie. You need to cut off that limb. And you better not use my stash to mop up the blood!"}
Anyway, in normal sewing...
Worked on Hotel Kit #4 {I think? I really need to make a list of these.} Cutting background and lids for the mason jar picnic quilt.
And I started Hotel Kit #5 - carefully cutting the border strips. Alternate rows with four patches and pinwheels, and alternate the fabrics in those rows in each quilt. Two quilts from five one-yard cuts! {If my math is right.}
Non-QA Quilts:
 Unnamed Baby Girl Quilt - basted! And...nice corner, huh? The only creatures in my house with such a wild disregard for fabric also don't have opposable thumbs, so it was written on at some point in the manufacturing/distribution process. I was able to baste around it, but I'm still annoyed.
I also started a pillowcase dress/tutorial.
Quilt-Alongs
Fat Quarter Stars - 6/12 blocks - none

{Buckeye Beauty - Crosses & Losses - X Quartet}
LQS Saturday Sampler 2012 - 9/36 - I picked up the next two months of blocks to keep up while I'm gone over the summer.
 LQS Saturday Sampler 2011 - medallion is together, two of the word-y sides are on, and I'm piecing little blocks to fill in the other word-y sides.
Swoon A Little, Swoon A Lot - Debbie yelled at me, so I dug Swoon out. Turns out I only need two more blocks! So I started on them as leaders/enders. Need to pay attention to the stripe direction.
Granny Squares {mine} - top done!
